Our first Halloween activity was pumpkin carving with the family! It was my parents first time carving pumpkins. My dad loved it! Even though he got frustrated because he is such a perfectionist! My mom oddly enough liked cleaning the inside of the pumpkin! LOL
Also this year I had the responsibility to organize the Trunk O Treat for our ward. I started to plan the event when I received an email from the primary president from a different ward proposing to do the trunk o treat together. So we starting to plan our Tri-Ward Trunk O Treat. To be honest it was very stressful to coordinate and make games for 150 plus kids and planning 500 plus people attending. Lucky the Winderemere primary president is super organized (spreadsheets and all) and we were able to pull it together. Even when we were not in the planning phase anymore a fourth ward joined us! I did feel overwhelmed because the next day was our primary presentation. I had two major events back to back. I could not have done it alone. Once again I am so grateful for my husband and family's support!
The activity turned out great! We were able to have the food and all the games we planned. All the children and even the adults had fun. The trunk o treat was a success!
Even though I had a lot to do I did not want to pass up the opportunity to dress up! We had a couple of ideas of costumes this year but we ended up choosing Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. Even though Jonathan was not so thrilled to paint his face he ended up loving it! ;)
Jonathan wore an oversized sport coat filled with padding in the shoulders to give him the squared look. We also bought the big bolts that we glued on with Spirit gum.
The costume I wore was a bridal style dress from Goodwill and I added lace to make it look more antique and more bridal'ish'. I also made gloves with the extra lace. Of course what made my costumes was my hair! I did not like any if the wigs for Bride of Frankenstein. I really don't like wigs that much unless I have too. So since I have black hair I knew some way or another I had to be able to accomplish that infamous hair! So I used a wire net to in force the structure and with a load of hairspray and hair pins I accomplished 'the hair'!!!
The costumes were a hit! Some of my primary kids laughed, some were scared but most were confused! We had so much fun :)
(thanks to my hairstylist Kathy! She helped me with my up-do! )
Since we were going to be the Frankenstein family it was only fitting for Louie to be Frankenweenie!
Haha Blaine really doesn't like to paint his face either :/ I always have to plan our costumes around that. Love the costumes!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI {With the help of Terr and 2 other couples} had to plan the Halloween party for the 2nd year in a row and we were freaking out with 75 kids and 300 Adults. I cannot imagine 150 kids and 500+ members! But you are good at planning and I learned alot from you..... needless to say: I know you are perfect for that calling!
