Jonathan and I have gone to NYC every year since we got married. First year was for part of our honeymoon, the following year was with my family and finally this year we went with our friends! We really love the city! This trip we went from Friday to Monday. We went with our friends the Damaris & Bruce Huici (the Huici’s). We also meet our friends Valentina & Oscar Trochez (the Trochez’s).
The first day of our NYC trip we spent in Meat packing district.First we went to Lombardi’s Pizza. This is the first pizza in the United States. So you could say we ate a slice of history! The pizza was different it was not all covered in mozzarella but the sauce was delicious. You could really taste the spices, herbs and tomatoes. Yummy! After we went from some shopping in Chinatown. That’s an experience everyone needs to do! Bruce (who had never been to NY) was amazed how people would come to you, knew you were a tourist and try to sell you things. Its like a network of people! Later at night we went to watch Chicago in Broadway. This was Jonathan, Bruce and I first Broadway experience. We were fans of the movie already so we told the Huici’s to watch the movie before we went to NYC. We laughed, sang along and just enjoyed the show!
On Saturday, we went to explore lower Manhattan. We went on a water taxi, went to Brooklyn and also to the Bodies exhibition. We walked across the whole Brooklyn bridge. The bridge is really a piece of art. Beautiful! We also walked around all of wall street. We passed by the famous Tiffany & Co. store and we were amazed of how beautiful the store was! It had gorgeous chandeliers, beautiful light fixtures all around and even a glass elevator. Jonathan even bought me my first Tiffany piece, a necklace from the Return to Tiffany collection. I was beyond excited and it was just so romantic and special for me. At night we went to Ian upscale Asian cuisine restaurant called Megu for Jonathan’s birthday celebration. It was quite the experience!
Sunday was are museum day! We went to MOMA which was my favorite museum even though you do see some odd things. But I truly believe you can find art everywhere and you don’t necessarily need to understand. We had a stroll in the beautiful Central Park. It really is a different world in there. No car honks, subway noises and city craziness. We even enjoyed a violinist playing some Vivaldi Four Seasons. By this time we had walked a lot and we decided to take a taxi to our next museum. When we got there it was like 3:30pm and we were starving. We decided to have lunch at the Metropolitan Museum. It was yummy hamburgers, chicken fingers, and French fries just what we needed! There was barely a line and it was quick service. The chairs were super comfortable and the temperature was perfect not hot or not too cold. It was just what we needed! It was 5:00pm and we see this janitor in the cafeteria picking up chairs, we asked why he was cleaning up and he told us the museum closes at 5:45pm!!!!!!!!! Since we has been there before we went to all the exciting parts of the museum. The only thing is we literally power walked everywhere! it was the funnies thing! Four grown people power walking through the museum going around slow people and flashing the camera in order to take quick snapshots! LOL Later that night we went the empire state building which looked amazing at night with the whole city light up! We also went to times square and had our last dinner at Planet Hollywood.
Monday we went to explore 5th avenue and saw all the cool stores! Retail companies really go all out in designing their stores in New York. We also went to the Top of the Rock and the Guggenheim museum! But this day was short because we had our flights back to our home. After getting lost like a million times, now we are professional subway travelers, we know how to bargain when we buy stuff and we can get around NYC!!! The trip overall was awesome. We had the opportunity to get to know our friends better and now have build more wonderful memories together.
Can't wait till we can all take trips together! Glad you guys had a great time. Love you guys! <3
