For this half marathon we were the Ducks! Donald and Daisy!
Every race is different, there is always a different experience. We started this race very strong, I was not tired and ran on a smooth constant pace. Jonathan is an excellent pacer and he had me on check. Sometimes when I get excited I just want to run really fast! We took some pictures along the race.
The course was the same as the Princess Half just different character spots and way more men running LOL. We were in hurry for this race and just had a banana for pre-fuel. We didn't submit a time so we got stuck on the last corral. We waited 1 hour to start, so by mile 5 I was starving. I had never experienced this before. As we kept running I started to feel pain on my stomach and thought it was a cramp but it was actual hunger pain. My pain increased to the point that I was no longer able to run. I speed walk the last two miles while Jonathan jogged slowly. When we crossed the finish line, Jonathan hugged me and said he was super proud of me because even though I had pain I kept going and ran my first 6 miles with a good pace. This race taught me that I do need to prepare correctly no matter what and that everything is better with Jonathan on my side.
This race was my 2nd Half Marathon and my 4th Run Disney race. I love being able to share these races with Jonathan. He has become such a great and strong runner! I know he is going to need to run races on his own for his personal training, so a cherish the ones we can do together!
