"It is a challenge to count our blessings because we have a tendency to take good things for granted." -President Henry B. Eyring
(President Henry B. Eyring's quote from his message in the Liahona Decemeber 2011 issue)
Every year I feel like I love Holidays more and more. I discover fun ways to celebrate and embrace them. But somehow I always feel that Thanksgiving is always over shadowed. Halloween just happened and then there is always Black Friday madness and Christmas right behind.
This year we spend Thanksgiving at my parent's house. My aunt from Miami, my grandmother and a family from our ward celebrated Thanksgiving with a speciali dinner. My mom put a long table so we all sat together. She decorated all her house with fall colors and festive turkeys! My mother also wanted to make EVERYTHING! She only assigned m the dessert. I really want to make something different and festive. I decide to make turkey cake pops! They took me all day...but they were worth it! Thy tasted delicious and looked super cute. But let me tell you those cake pops are a challenge. They require lots of patiences and details. I also bought some pumpkin pies for more of a traditional dessert. (I wanted to make the pumpkin pie like last year...but I ran out of time). We really enjoyed spending time together and remembering what we are grateful for.
Thanksgiving in history was a great moment for our country. This holiday is a very special one. It is not often we dedicated a whole day on being grateful. The best part of this holiday is that it focuses on families eating together. Which to me is a great way to unify families.
Jonathan and I set a goal to always strive for a grateful heart.Thankfully we are very blessed but sometimes we can take good things for granted. We just needed to remember the blessing we have received, recognize the blessings of the present, and look forward to the blessings of the future.
